I recently got my hands on the LEGO Sonic the Hedgehog Shadow the Hedgehog Escape Building Set 76995. And let me tell you, it’s a whole lot of fun! As a huge fan of both Sonic and LEGO, this set ticked all the right boxes for me.

First off, the Shadow the Hedgehog escape planning options are endless. With its inspiring scenarios, kids can be engaged in an endless stream of imaginative gameplay. Be it breaking Shadow out of the lab’s stasis chamber or racing his motorcycle past a falling barricade, a child’s adventure is never-ending.

What struck me was the level of detailing with the figures. The Shadow minifigure in particular stood out. It’s amazing how LEGO was able to bring a character from an edgy video game into a LEGO form. The minifigure’s arm and leg printing, and the overall feel of the character, is truly fantastic. However, there was a bit of a challenge when it came to getting Shadow to sit in his motorcycle — it could have been better.

The motorcycle, Rhino, and pod escape builds definitely had a lot of life to them. It’s exciting to have Shadow driving the motorcycle, even though it took a bit of figuring out to get him on there. The Rhino is a buildable figure in itself, and it’s a bit disappointing that Shadow’s escape vehicle doesn’t have a complete back hat.

The LEGO Builder app, where kids can track their progress, is a great inclusion. It’s easy to use and adds a whole new level of fun and creativity to the building experience. The set contains 196 pieces which is quite decent.
